Prep Room Manager

The Prep Room Manager (Embalming Supervisor) is responsible for the overall supervision of the location’s embalming needs as well as the preparation and presentation of the decedent to ensure the expectations of our client families and their guests are exceeded.

Compensation: from $55,000 a year + $3,500 sign-on bonus

Job Type: Full-Time

Location: Lombardo Funeral Home – Amherst, New York

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; some college or college degree preferred.

  • 5 years of experience as a licensed Embalmer.

  • 2 years of leadership experience

  • Valid Embalmer’s license

  • Valid state issued driver’s license in good standing and acceptable driving record.

Job Duties

  • Supervises day to day activities and schedules of embalming staff.

  • Ensures all employees are properly trained on company procedures, safety, and equipment as it pertains to embalming and the prep room.

  • Prepares and embalms decedents for interment, cremation, or other disposition in conformity with legal requirements and with the utmost respect and dignity.

  • Instructs and oversees work of Apprentice Embalmers on cases and paperwork.

  • Places remains in visitation room and sets up room to comply with client family wishes.

  • Prepares deceased for transportation as needed.

  • Answers questions and assists with serving the needs of client families.

  • Ensures proper paperwork, including permits, logs, identification tags, and certificates are completed accurately and timely and in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

  • Utilizes personal protective equipment and adheres to relevant operational and safety procedures.

  • Stocks and cleans preparation room and refrigeration unit.

  • Demonstrated willingness to participate in growing market share through personal community involvement.

  • Works on-call/ first call, as needed; and

  • Attention to detail and follow-through.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment

  • The duties associated with this position are generally performed in an indoor office setting; however, some duties may be performed outdoors. Outdoor duties may require exposure to natural elements such as inclement weather, extreme temperatures, uneven ground, dust, gas, and/or fumes.

  • Must have sufficient strength and manual dexterity and must be willing to work safely and comply with the Company’s safety procedures, including wearing any personal protective equipment that may be required.

  • Employees in this role are regularly required to climb, sit, stand, bend, kneel, and frequently lift up to 75 pounds, and may be required to lift up to 100 pounds.

  • Performance of this position’s duties may also require power reaching, pushing, and pulling.

  • This position’s duties require routine exposure to chemicals and/or blood borne pathogens.

  • Must be able to drive a company vehicle and maintain a good driving record and must be insurable under company vehicle insurance.
